NYSUT/AFT First Book Program Brings Learning Kits and Hygiene Supplies to Students

Our students are benefiting from two generous donations through NYSUT/AFT, providing valuable learning resources for our youngest learners and hygiene supplies for students in grades 3-7.

Through the First Book program, offered by the New York State United Teachers (NYSUT) and the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), Mrs. Capone applied for and received two early learning kits for our PreK students. The kits, Dinosaur, Dinosaur I Can Learn and First Words and More, include books and sticker activities to engage young learners. Mrs. Capone distributed them to students this week.

In addition to the early learning kits, NYSUT/AFT donated just under 200 hygiene kits. These kits will be distributed to students in grades 3-7 as part of an effort to support students' personal hygiene needs. Mrs. Shaw will lead discussions with students about hygiene and provide them with the supplies. Any remaining kits will be added to the district's Holiday Helper program.

We are grateful to NYSUT/AFT for its generosity and support, and to Mrs. Capone and Mrs. Shaw for helping coordinate these resources for our students and families.
